BHSU College of Arts & Sciences Review

Happy Tuesday and Good Morning!

It is a beautiful, sunny day in the Black Hills!

One of the things that I wanted to tell you all about on this wonderful day is the different programs offered at Black Hills State. I love hearing from different students and their interests and plans for their futures but sometimes I think that it is hard to remember all that BHSU has to offer! I am going to tell you a little about what the College of Arts and Sciences has to offer. The College of Arts and Sciences offers 58 undergraduate degree programs, 21 pre-professional programs and one master's degree program in integrative genomics. The degree programs within the College of Arts and Sciences provides students with a broad, liberal education that prepares them with skills such as critical thinking, analysis, oral and written communication, plus many others skills. There are endless possibilities in the College of Arts and Sciences with degrees in English, Music, and Mass Communications just to name a few. Maybe you’re looking for something different? I strongly encourage you to check out all the different programs to see what their classes are like and the other opportunities available. BHSU doesn’t just offer the programs, we also offer the ability to get involved within your program of study by joining one of BHSU’s Student Organizations that is involved in your program. You can also get involved by participating in internships and unique hands-on learning and research experiences. Getting involved in more than just your classes is a great way to learn. The College of Arts and Sciences will help you along the way through your college experience. They provide great professors and advisors that will help you make the best out of your education.

The BHSU Community provides students with state-of-the-art learning facilities and opportunities. You can do all sorts of things such as:
§ Join the Honors Program
§ Get involved in band, choir, or orchestra
§ Travel with different exchange programs to places such as China, Spain, and Mexico
§ Get experience working with our television or radio station located on campus or The Jacket Journal, BHSU’s own newspaper
§ Participate in a theatre production

And the possibilities do not end there! I encourage you to check out the programs plus more on BHSU’s website. It is always a great idea to think about attending a Preview Day where you could hear from professors in the College of Arts and Sciences plus professors from the other colleges too.
